CopyMinder:
Using the latest technology, I ensure that your
copy of The Monkey is a genuine copy. To do this,
The Monkey needs occasional access to the Internet.
However, it also has a number of great benefits
for you too. Why?
With good reason, most
computers users are very wary of the information
that's passed over the internet from their PC. It's
a sad fact of life, that there will always be people
out there who try to make a quick buck by exploiting
others, and the Internet simply opened up more doors
for these kind of people. As
a software vendor, I too come under attack from
software crackers trying to break my software
so that they can distribute it illegally. So,
to try and combat this, I have employed the latest
technology that ensures that your copy of our
software is a genuine copy. It also has a number
of benefits for you too.
I'm totally open how
this system works as I believe this openness is
the key to a good relationship between any company
and its customers.
How does it work?
When you start The Monkey,
The Monkey makes a 'call' to a security website
to see if your copy of The Monkey is valid. If
it's a legal copy, then you're allowed to use
the software. If it's not, then The Monkey simply
will not run.
The only information that
is sent, is information directly related to your
use of The Monkey. Nothing else - Period. You
can read a full, simple and clear explanation
of exactly how this software protection system
works and what information is sent, here:

Still not acceptable?
For some people, even this
is not acceptable and I understand that too. For
this reason, I offer you the facility to install
The Monkey manually. This means there is absolutely
no internet access required from your PC at all.
Did you know...
Without you probably realizing
it, your computer makes many conversations to the
Internet already. For example, your Anti-Virus program
and MSN (the instant messaging service) and also
your email program. In fact, a lot of programs these
days require, and do access the Internet but they
seldom choose to tell you when they are doing so.
In your Windows package, you will probably have
a Firewall installed by default. This Windows Firewall
will attempt to block access to your PC from unauthorized
access from the Internet, however, it does little
to stop information leaving your PC. If you really
want to know how many programs from your PC are
trying to access the Internet, get a free copy of
the award winning Zone Alarm. This brilliant firewall
program will ask you first if a particular program
or service on your PC is allowed to 'talk' to the
Internet. You will be amazed at how many programs
and services are already trying to do this without
your knowledge or permission.
Why do you need to know?
Because it's your personal
information and in my opinion, nobody has the right
to send information from your PC without you knowing.
Simple. I hope my
openness on this subject, telling you exactly what
is going on, gives you some idea of how seriously
I take your your concerns over privacy whilst using
my products or services. If you require any further
information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
